Welcome!
Heather Evans grew up in Los Angeles in a household where her mother sang and played the piano. Heather was singing songs from the Great American Songbook as a young child. Her biggest influence at that time was Ella Fitzgerald.
As a young teen-ager Heather began her singing career as a folk singer, playing guitar and singing in the folk clubs around Los Angeles.
At 17 she moved to San Francisco and was singing with John Handy’s Freedom Band.
At 21 Heather moved to New York to pursue her dream of being a jazz singer like her other idols, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan and Carmen McRae. She sang in many of the jazz clubs in New York for the next 4 years. Upon returning to Los Angeles Heather continued to sing in the jazz clubs in L.A. and with Los Angeles' best musicians.
Heather has made 2 CD's, one of her own and one with her partner for 9 years, Vern Waldron. Heather continues to sing. If you see her performing somewhere, don't hesitate to go and hear her. I assure you, you won't be disappointed!
