Heather Evans was born in New York and grew up in Los Angeles, the daughter of a promising opera singer. Heather's mother loved the tunes of the 30's and 40's. Even as Heather played the coffee houses of L.A. as a teenager, strumming guitar and singing folk music with the likes of the Chambers Brothers, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee, Odetta and Miriam Makeba, she never lost her love for those jazz standards that were such familiar friends to her. At 21, Heather moved to New York City in order to pursue her career as a jazz singer. In New York she worked with the best in the business: Mal Waldron, Billy Taylor, Billy Higgins, Philly Joe Jones, James Cleveland, Les McCann and Howard Johnson, to name a few. Heather even represented the bop era at Little Carnegie Hall, singing "How High the Moon" and "Take the A Train."

Heather later returned to Los Angeles where she became a fixture in jazz cafes. She has played regularly with such greats as Frank Collett, Ron Kalina, Cecilia Coleman, Art Hillary, Gildo Mahones, Jane Getz, Ricky Woodard, Dwight Dickerson, Richard Simon, Paul Gormley, Louie Spears, Sherman Ferguson, Harold Mason, Paul Humphrey, Roy McCurdy and too many others to name.

Heather's performances today take the audience back to her influences: Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and Carmen MacRae. While Heather brings her own stylings to the table, and explores new originals, she pays tribute to those great names. You owe it to yourself to catch Heather Evans live.

Included in the talented musicians were Frank Collette & Jane Getz, piano; Richard Simon & Chris Colangelo, bass; Sherman Ferguson & Don Littleton, drums. Heather sang for nine years as half of the duo The Jazzlinx with singer/pianist Vern Waldron. Although still close friends, they are now pursuing their careers separately.
